Rat Embryonic Stem Cells Available

The Rat Resource and Research Center (RRRC) is pleased to announce that two rat Embryonic Stem Cell lines donated to the RRRC by Dr. Qi-Long Ying are now available for distribution.

The two lines are DAc2 (RRRC #467) and DAc8 (RRRC #464). DAc2 is a female, Dark Agouti (DA)-derived line and DAc8 is a male, DA-derived line. Both are described in Li et al (2008) Cell, 135: 1299-1310.

The cost is $850/vial of cells + shipping.

John Critser
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely passing of our dear friend and colleague John Critser, Director of the Rat Resource and Research Center (RRRC).

New RRRC Director
We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth C. Bryda, PhD is the new director of the RRRC.

New Publications from the RRRC
Drs. Hongsheng Men and Elizabeth Bryda describe the isolation and characterization of novel ES cell lines in "Germline Transmission of a Novel Rat Embryonic Stem Cell Line Derived from Transgenic Rats" to be published in Stem Cells and Development.  Dr. Yuksel Agca has a paper "Changes in rat spermatozoa function after cooling, cryopreservation and centrifugation processes" (S. Kim et al.) in press in Cryobiology. 

New Embryonic Stem Cell Lines Available
Two new rat embryonic stem cell lines are now available: SD-Tg.EC1 (RRRC# 561) and F344-Tg.EC4011 (RRRC# 654).  Both cell lines carry an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) transgene.  

Discontinued Strains
